Dean Phoenix announced in October of 2000 that at age 26 he was retiring. In December, he was voted Most Cuddly Stud and Sexiest Porn Star by the fans at the 2000 Men in Video Awards (The Probies). During his career, Phoenix had been an All Worlds Video exclusive, but this movie, one of of his last, is a joint effort with director Drew Warner for Warner's Sports and Recreation Video.
The story is pretty simple. Phoenix writes to Warner about just "another hot afternoon by the pool..." and the action takes off from there. Coproducing meant that Warner and Phoenix were able to handpick some of the hottest young stars for a three-day shoot in the Hollywood Hills of this sun-drenched, poolside adventure.
Phoenix is included in most of the scenes, teaming up first with Chad Savage and Tuck Johnson for a three-way on a lounge chair. For the most part, the action simmers rather than boils. The music is reminiscent of those "Sounds of Nature" CDs, with bubbling waters and chirping birds. Phoenix looks as hot as ever, with sculpted chest and dark, uncut meat. At times, he seems distracted to the point of... well, you know, it happens to us all sometimes.
Savage comes to life in the next scene, where it's just him and Corey Summers. Summers is the boy-next-door with the 7-inch boner; well-groomed in most places but still hairy on his legs and pits. This is the best scene of them all; it's a long sensuous ride, with Summers refusing Savage's gentle advances to get his swim trunks off. There are long slow neck nibbles, deep kisses, and finally, Summer's allows his boner to spring to life and bounce off his belly. Savage knows his way around a butt hole, slowly working Summers into a lather. Savage blows his wad on Summer's belly.
Every scene seems to feature Phoenix getting his swimsuit taken off by some porn cutie. I mean, after the third time, one wonders why he even has one on! His pairing with Junior features a pretty hot game of Marco Polo, where he pokes the well-lubed Junior in rapid successions.
Phoenix is grouped with Troy Michaels and his 10-inch-plus rod, the dark and sexy Jay Raven, Junior, Jack Ryan, Jessie Martin and Summers for the jacuzzi scene. Instead of an all-out jizzfest, it rolls along like the last day of summer camp, young boys exploring their sexuality one last time before heading their separate ways - oh, and shooting gobs of goo all over their pretty tummies. Phoenix finishes off with a steamy shower with Michaels.
The production values of this movie are topnotch. The video has great lighting and editing. The original music gives the movie a more relaxed feeling, like a welcome breeze on a hot summer day. There is plenty to look at on screen too. Fans of the swim team captain types will find it hard not to love Summers or Savage or Johnson... well, you get the point. But while all the hard work behind the scenes is appreciated, a little more "hard" on the screen would be nice too.
Ah, spring. By the time you're done watching this poolside fantasy, you'll be searching for your towel and some more oil. But after you're done whacking off, head outside and scope out your spot on the Belmont Rocks, because summer is right around the corner.
