Five disconnected sex scenes woven together in the schizophrenic fashion favored by Director Thompson. While a bit heavy on the "artsy-fartsy" elements, this video still manages to generate some steamy scenery of the butts 'n' wieners variety.
Those familiar with Thompson's work have come to expect a slightly off-kilter story line surrounding otherwise predictable sex footage. There's nothing new here; just more of the same silly, sexy and disjointed stew that has become a Thompson trademark. The attempts at seriousness are sometimes more laughable than the stuff that's meant to make us laugh. In Tapestry, the scenes are punctuated with written verse, such as "Our own bodies are our canvases which we massage into our own sexual tapestry." At first blush, such prose seems all beautiful and poetic, until one reads it for meaning and finds none. Sometimes the line between being truly avant-garde and "pandering wildly to avoid being average" isn't so wide.
Since the actors aren't identified individually with pictures (something I'll never stop pointing out; producers should just do this automatically), the following scene descriptions may be less than accurate. The "treatment sheet" (who appears in which scenes) that was furnished to me from Vivid was also fraught with error.
The opening scenery features Joshua Scott, Michael Knight and Sandy Sloane standing naked on a mountainside and fluttering large colorful cloths in the wind. They unite for a three-way of sucking, rimming and kissing. Far too much kissing. The scene runs longer than it should, nothing that a little fast-forwarding won't fix.
Scene two is the best of the tape, with Jeremy Brooks and Frank Taylor drinking champagne in an oversized bathtub together. They eat each other front and rear before Taylor plugs Brooks' ass in a variety of positions. Watching from the front, we see Brooks' big, uncut wienie flopping wildly as he rides on Taylor's woody. These two are cute, young, hung and genuinely horny for each other.
Weirdness takes over in scene three, as Sean Dickson and Jack Simmons do some sort of bizarre voodoo dance while wearing only body paint. The crazy camera angles and music complete the mental institution atmosphere. In time, they hook up for mutual sucking and rimming festivities. Dickson is hung, but Simmons is nothing short of enormous. The body paint is peeled away and Dickson fucks Simmons. Just when we're thinking that the roles should have been the reverse, they becomes so, with Simmons fucking Dickson. Through creative editing, they flip-flop positions so much as to make you dizzy watching. Dickson does take some serious fucking without complaint, however.
Hawk McAllister joins Scott Mann poolside for scene four, making for the second hottest footage of the feature. While the action is "boiler plate" all the way, the actors are there because they want to be, and it shows. At least we're out of the Twilight Zone for the moment. The camera work could have been a little more active here but does manage to capture some good butt-hole shots.
Just when we were getting used to the normality of it all, we join Mike Vista and Leo Masters as they act like preschoolers and play on the floor with toys. (No, not sex toys, we're talking Tonka Trucks, beach balls and the like.) They chatter on like idiots for a while then get on with the task at hand. The resulting sex is fine but not spectacular as an ending.
The closing footage is a montage of outtakes (some of which are pretty cute) and the cast and crew clowning for the camera. You may recognize the one fellow (not identified or otherwise in this feature) who sings bits of Time Warp (from Rocky Horror Picture Show) for us, just like he has in at least 3 other Thompson tapes. Perhaps it's a cry for help of some sort. Ms. Nixx shows us her breasts once again, something that no gay feature is complete without. While we gather that the cast and crew had a fun time making this feature, a little of that energy might have been better spent on crediting the cast with pictures. David Thompson are you listening? Put names with the faces, please.
