WARNING!
Not actually a film director but he was easily the king of porn on the west coast. He had a number of theaters and had been showing straight porn when he was talked into showing homoerotic films. He was supposedly quite homophobic and was not one to be trusted where money was involved.
At the Apollo theater in L.A., later renamed the Star, he advertised muscle films as "camp-outs" which could be named as one of the first public theater films showings aimed at the gay audience.
Bob Mizer thought he was both hilarious and gay.
Jim Cassidy thought he was low down describing how after having the Park Theater picketed for charging $5 for the porn shown (when regular theater was $1) the next week he advertised a piece of junk as being controversial, charged $10 and and sold the place out.
