WARNING!
Presley fell down on the sidewalk in front of William Higgins' home. After being bandaged up by Higgins, they struck up a friendship and months later Higgins revealed what he did for a living. When Higgins happened to complain that he had a hard time getting music for his videos, Presley said he had some background in that and volunteered to help. Higgins bought him the equipment he would need to get started.
His first two music compositions were for These Bases are Loaded and Class Reunion. The two videos had long orgy scenes which meant that there was music for almost the entire video. He was new to the task and found it difficult to meet the deadlines. Initially he tried to match the musical rhythm to that of the sex but Higgins didn't like how the tempo changes distracted so Presley ended up just choosing a rhythm that would fit an entire scene.
He rarely got to know the performers and since performers usually don't appear often in a video, he never used recurring theme music for their characters. Presley's first year and a half of putting music to videos used the disco beat of the era like that used in most other videos but after that point he managed to convince Higgins that it was time to use something else. Some critics missed the hard driving music and thought Presley's change was too boring. He didn't use music to accentuate the sexual climaxes to keep from making it silly although he did feel he had to slow things down if the sex did not look that interesting.
To help stimulate originality between videos Presley would rearrange his studio with different colors, plants and settings. He was a nighttime worker and would work six days a week and sometimes seven.
