When I began my journey into porn, one of the very first videos that I rented was a little flick called Getting It that starred Jim Bentley and Sean Michaels as high school fuck-buddies. Imagine my surprise and delight when I discovered that the very same director who guided that wonderful film to its birth directed South Beach Heat, one of the hottest films that I have seen in a long, long time.
Director/writer Philip St. John loosely tackles a very sticky subject - Serial killer Andrew Cunanan's final days in Miami Beach, when he killed fashion designer Gianni Versace and then committed suicide in a houseboat. Now, one would not think to turn his story into a porn film. A lot of people may turn their noses up in disgust and shout "sacrilege!" - I thought it was going to be icky myself, but I was happily surprised.
One of the hottest, most sexual bottoms in the biz, Dax Kelly, narrates, and it is his story that we are told. We discover his thoughts and feelings on "Andy," ultra-hot Tony Reno, and his infatuation with how beautiful yet inaccessible he is. St. John is smart to focus on another opinion - and who could go wrong with Kelly's baby blues?
The story begins in a sex club, with an orgy already in progress. Kelly, in fact, is being fucked fiercely by his new beau, Anthony DeMarco, a hot, dark Cuban. Nameless, naked men fill the room - one of them, sexy J.T. Sloan, is watching Kelly get pounded and pulling on his own always-hard pole. Kelly eventually spreads his legs wide so that Sloan can slide his meat deep into his bowels. It is an incredibly arousing scene that culminates with Kelly being double penetrated by Sloan and DeMarco. Kelly is just a little sex pig, and thank God for that! The fucking and camera work in this scene is nothing short of spectacular.
And it gets better.
Lovers Michael Chads and Tony Brandon are in a relationship (in real life as well) but like to have guys watch them fuck. They invite Reno, but he blows them off, much like he blew off Kelly in the previous scene. The two guys end up by a pool, where they suck each other before Brandon slides his tongue deep into Chads' ass. Kelly continues to see Reno around . At an art gallery, cutie Tony Cummings approaches and is blown off. So Cummings attaches himself to artist Dino DiMarco, and they head to DiMarco's pad, where DiMarco kisses Cummings right into the wall before slamming a satisfying fuck into him. They continue fucking into DiMarco's studio, where his roommate, Michael Rivera, is already naked and sucking a big Scott York dick. Both are covered in a substance Rivera calls "Tasty Paint" - edible paint. The rest of the scene just has to be seen to be believed. All four are doused in colorful paint, Cummings riding DiMarco as Rivera takes globs of the paint up his hole, helped along by York's fingers and dildos. The stark whiteness of cum against the bright colors of the paint is visually stimulating. And DiMarco shoots the best cum shot I have ever seen from him. The scene is both sloppy and sexual.
We move to a boat, where Paul Morgan and Alec Powers take turns chomping on each other's cocks. The penetration scenes are awesome, and Kelly again proves his versatility. The chemistry between the three just sizzles.
There's been a shooting on the beach (the Versace murder, although no names are ever mentioned), and Reno goes into hiding in the houseboat. This scene is difficult to like yet difficult to hate - on the one hand, it's bizarre and twisted; but on the other hand, it's frighteningly erotic.
The final scene is a dream sequence that Kelly has about Reno laying naked, surrounded by Powers, Morgan, Chads, Brandon, himself and DeMarco, who dances above him a ritualistic sort of dance. The men flog themselves with tree branches and leaves while jacking their meat. Tyler Gray eventually appears above Reno and is penetrated by DeMarco. Through amazing visuals, Gray's asshole at one point actually appears to be on fire! The fuck is intense and highly energetic, which results in all men shooting creamy loads on the prone Reno.
All of the sex in this film is white hot, and St. John takes great pains to capture eroticism as well as the actual sexual intensity. His and Drew Warner's videography is unbelievable; the penetration shots are clinical yet erotic, and the sexual situations are sheer, clever genius. He surrounds himself with the most beautiful men you could lay eyes on and gets them to actually shiver with energy.
You'll either hate this film or you'll love it - but you have to at least give it a chance.
